Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir & Nathula
This is a full-day trip east of Gangtok into a restricted border zone. Tsomgo (Changu) Lake sits at around 12,400 ft and is usually combined with Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir. Nathula Pass, on the India–China border, can be added by Indian nationals on open days with an additional permit.
Permit: Tsomgo, Baba Mandir and Nathula require a Protected Area Permit, arranged through a registered operator (usually a day in advance). Nathula is open only on certain weekdays, is restricted to Indian nationals, and can be closed by the Army at short notice due to weather or security. See the permit guide.
